Big Australia

Australia hotels


It started with one BIG thing and spread to a whole collection around Australia. Spot them as you drive around and give us some feedback on what you think! Each is a plastic statue of the item and either a shop or a tourist attraction. Here is the list of some of them, there are others but not really that "Big" but they call themselves BIG.

Big Banana
This one is one of the best and was the first one back in 1964. Now a major tourist attracting at Coffs Harbour, and you cannot miss as on the main highway. Coffs Harbour, New South Wales.

Big Crocodile
There is a completion with this one and can be found at Hartley's Creek, Queensland and also at Wyndham in Western Australia

Big Golden Guitar
Tamworth is the Country Music Capital of Australia and so a Big Guitar makes sense. Tamworth, New South Wales.

 

 

Big Lobster
A huge lobster with a restaurant and gift shop. Kingston, South Australia.

Big Mandarin
In competition to the Big Orange the Queensland version in the area where mandarins are produced. Mundubbera, Queensland.

Big Merino
All about sheep this one. Goulburn, New South Wales.

Big Miner
A tribute to the Cornish miners who were very much part of the early history of the area. Kapunda, South Australia.

Big Ned Kelly
Promoting this famous bushranger. Glenrowan, Victoria.

Big Orange
NOt surprisingly promoting oranges and a good place to sample some. Berri, South Australia.

Big Pelican
One that we see often as in our home town and sits beside the Noosa River. Noosa, Queensland.

Big Penguin
Relates to the name of the town Penguin, and the place to see fairy penguins between November and March.

Big Pineapple
On the Sunshine Coast with a pineapple plantation and train ride. Nambour, Queensland.

Big Potato
Not much with this one other than a potato on the main street. Robertson, New South Wales.

Big Prawn
All about promoting prawns. Ballina, New South Wales.

Big Rocking horse
The largest rocking horse in the world. Gumeracha, South Australia.

Big Tassie Devil
A Tassie Devil at the entrance to Trowunna Wildlife Park. Mole Creek, Tasmania.

Big Trout
Promoting trout fishing in the lakes and rivers. Adaminaby, New South Wales.

Big Wool Bales
Five wool bales that form a building that displays things related to wool. Hamilton, Victoria.

Big Winch
Very appropriate to put up a big winch in this mining town. Coober Pedy, South Australia.

Big Worm
A part of the Giant Earthworm Museum. Bass Victoria.
