Washpool National Park

Experiences in Australia

Washpool National Park is located in northern New South Wales, 75km east of Glen Innes. This is a rainforest park of World Heritage importance, with lush plant life that includes Australian red cedars and the world's largest stand of coachwood trees. It also houses a wide range of wildlife, including the red-eyed tree frog, powerful owl, spotted-tailed quoll, parma wallaby and red-legged pademelon, to name but a few. There are a number of walking trails; the Coombadjha Walk is a good introduction to the park an easy 1.5 km circuit walk with educational signs and creek-side scenery.

There are two camping grounds which offer non-flush toilets, picnic tables and barbecues (bring your own firewood) and there are a few picnic areas, set in lush forest clearings.

Turn off the Gwydir Highway at Coachwood Drive, to reach the camping and picnic areas of the park. Some sections of the road are unpaved.
