Museum of Tropical Queensland
One of the main exhibits are items salvaged from the wreck of H.M.S. Pandora. The ship foundered after striking the northern edge of the Great Barrier Reef in 1791. It is famous as the vessel which had pursued the Bounty mutineers and captured fourteen of them in Tahiti. National Trust Heritage Centre
Houses from the 19th and 20th Century showing early Townsville life located 2km from CBD. 5-7 Catling Street, West End (07 4771 5873).

Queensland Military Museum
Located at Jezzine Army Barracks, a collection of military artefacts to explore as well as lovely area to enjoy a picnic and view the water. Kissing Point (07 4771 1043).

Perc Tucker Regional Gallery
A contemporary mix of Australian and International Artists works, with the focus on local talent. Corner Denham and Flinders Streets, (07 4727 9011).

Reef HQ
This spectacular aquarium has great displays of the local creatures and coral of the Great barrier Reef. You can view sharks close up and view the replica of the local shipwreck, Yongala.(07 4750 0800).

Townsville Maritime Museum
The maritime history of northern Queensland, with interesting displays of local shipwrecks, one being the Yongala that went down in a cyclone in 1911 killing it's 125 passengers.42-68 Palmer Street, (07 4721 5251).
