If size counts then the Rudall River National Park should appeal. It's the largest park in WA, has about 1.2 million hectares and is two and half times bigger than the Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona. It's big and therefore remote. Sand dunes, lakes rarely full, rivers and rocky desert areas make up most of the park.
Scrubby vegetation dominates with spinifex and eucalypts around the water ways. Many birds are found near rivers. Some of the birds which come to drink at water holes include the painted finch and various honeyeaters.
Tree frogs and ground frogs are found here as are a variety of mammals. The Rudall River itself is something like an oasis in this often dry and arid landscape. Today there are a number of Aboriginal settlements within the park.
