Just an hour's drive from Cairns in Far North Queensland, the town of Port Douglas offers beautiful white beaches set alongside stunning rainforests. Whilst perhaps not as well known as Melbourne or Sydney, Port Douglas should certainly be visited on any trip to Australia – not least to see the Great Barrier Reef and Daintree River and Rainforest. The Daintree National Park is home to the world's oldest living rainforest. Take a day tour through luscious tropical forestry, encounter marshes and swamps and wonder at the rare and native flora and fauna.

The Great Barrier Reef can be seen from outer space and attracts scores of visitors each year and Port Douglas is situated adjacent to it's top end. With a stunning array of fish, dolphins, turtles, whales and other exotic fauna, visiting the Reef is an opportunity not to be missed. Day trips or longer tours are abundantly available, as well as opportunities to snorkel, scuba dive and relax in the warm tropical waters.
The weather at Port Douglas is that of a tropical climate; there are wet and dry seasons rather than hot and cold seasons.
