What is a National Park?

There are many types of parks in Australia but a national park is an extensive area of land which has nationwide significance. National Parks have outstanding natural environments and features, scenic landscapes and diverse flora and fauna. Some other types of parks are coastal parks, metropolitan parks, regional parks and wildlife sanctuaries.
