Mutawintji is located in the west of New South Wales, 130km from Broken Hill. The landscape is at once desert-like, wild and tranquil. The National Park also has a strong Aboriginal history and it houses the Mutawintji Historic Site, containing one of Australia’s best collections of Aboriginal rock art. Guided tours of the Historic Site are available. There are some spectacular walking trails in the park, ranging from easy to hard, offering the chance to view some impressive gorges, creeks, rust red cliffs and Aboriginal engravings. The park is home to abundant flora and fauna and you’re likely to see lots of emus, kangaroos, and goannas. If you’re lucky, you might spot the endangered yellow-footed rock wallabies
