Mt William National Park

Australia hotels

Nestle in the far northeastern part of the state, Mt William National Park is near Gladstone and northeast of Launceston. From Gladstone you’ll travel 17 km on roads C843 and C845 to the park entrance on the north. At the south end, the park can be accessed by going north from St. Helens or east from Gladstone, via unsealed roads C843 and C846.

Facilities include six designated campgrounds- Deep Creek near Eddystone Pt Lighthouse in the southern end of the park, and five in the northern end: Top Camp, and Stumpys 1, Stumpys 2, Stumpys 3, and Stumpys 4. The campgrounds and narrow access roads will not accommodate large motorhomes or caravans. Small to medium sized motorhomes and caravans can be accommodated in all six of the campgrounds except number 2.

There are pit toilets at each site, but no drinking water. Fires must be contained to the provided fireplaces or portable cooking stoves. A Day Use Area is adjacent to Stumpys 4 campground, with picnic tables, gas barbecues, and a shelter. There are also boat ramps next to the park at Eddystone Point and Great Musselroe Bay; 4WD will be necessary.

The park has teeming wildlife, great history, amazing plant life, and long, lonely beaches. The park is an important conservation area of Tasmania’s endemic heathlands and dry sclerophyll plants. Walking tracks take you through the magical wilderness of the coastline so that you can experience the beach and also the rich texture of nearby woodlands.
