Mount Remarkable National Park

Australia hotels

Mount Remarkable National Park, located in the Southern Flinders Ranges some 240km north of Adelaide, offers visitors impressive mountain scenery, dotted with a diverse range of flora and fauna. It features a fascinating mix of wildlife and vegetation, due to Its geographical location, where South Australia's dry north and wetter southern regions meet. The park is a haven for walkers, with a large number of scenic and challenging walks on offer.

There are visitor areas located at Mambray Creek on the park's western side and at BlueGum Flat near Alligator Gorge in the eastern section. Each area has a car park, barbecues, picnic tables and toilets and there are well-marked walks which can be taken from both spots.

Mambray Creek campground is suitable for vehicle-based camping. There are unpowered sites, flushing toilets, heated showers, a water supply and communal fireplaces. Facilities are suitable for disabled access. There are a number of other basic camping grounds throughout the park as well as some self-catering cottages available for hire.

To drive to the park, take Highway 1, approximately 45 km north of Port Pirie, to reach the park's headquarters at Mambray Creek , or you can enter at Alligator Gorge via a picturesque drive commencing 1 km south of Wilmington on Main North Road.
