Mornington is a very popular seaside town 57km south east of Melbourne. It has a village like atmosphere to it and is extremely popular for day trippers from Melbourne.

Schnapper Point has a jetty, restaurant and yacht club and there are walks along the scenic coast from the point.

Mothers Beach and Scout Beach are two attractive beaches which lie along the eastern side of Schnapper Point. Further along from here are Shire Hall Beach and Mills Beach. Fishermans Beach leads to Finley Point which is a scenic rocky outcrop.

Mornington has a very modern town center with many al fresco dining places along the Main Street.

Historically there is a Post Office that was built in 1863 at the corner of the Esplanade and Main street which is now a museum. The old courthouse from 1860 and the former police station from 1862 lie on the other side of Main Street.
