Mollymook beaches

Experiences in Australia

Mollymook beach stretches for 2km between Bannisters Point in the north down to the southern headland where the Golf Club and a Surf Lifesaving Club are located. The beaches are famed for their clean, sweeping sands and crystal clear waters and they are patrolled in season (from September to April), making them very safe for swimming (between the flags), snorkelling and diving.

Mollymook Beach often plays host to both local and national surf lifesaving carnivals, bringing the area to life in the summer with a riot of colour and energy. Another popular event is the annual international Beach Volleyball tournament.

The are a number of grassy areas alongside the beach where you can enjoy a picnic or barbeque and the Surf Lifesaving Clubhouse provides a popular children’s playground and outdoor exercise circuit for adults. Surfing lessons with pro surfers are available, if you’re tempted to give it a try. There are also a couple of good beach cafes.

Just to the north of Mollymook beach is Narrawallee, another fine, sandy beach. Here you can find Narrawallee Inlet, a popular and safe swimming spot, surrounded by a pretty, verdant nature reserve, which makes it a very pleasant place to stop for a picnic. To reach Narrawallee Creek Nature Reserve from the highway, turn off at Yatteyattah.

The coastline is also a haven for nature lovers. The birdlife is abundant and dolphins can frequently be spotted playing in the surf. If you’re lucky, you may also spot migrating whales, in season.
