Loxton

Loxton is known as the garden city of the Riverland region. Loxton is 251 km to the north east of Adelaide. The area was first named Loxtons Hut after a boundary rider built a pine and pug hut here. The largest war service settlement scheme in the State was carried out here after World War II.

Attractions in town
Loxton historical village is located on river front which has over 30 re created buildings, machinery and implements from late 1880`s to mid 1900`s. Nearby Pepper tree grown from seed brought by Loxton over 110 years ago. Nature trail along river front  and canoes can be brought on hire.

Attractions in the area
In Bookpurnong road towards the north of Loxtong Medea Cottage is present which has fresh and preserved local produce. Australian vintage, wine tasting and sales are present in the area. Lock 4 is present 14 km to the North on Murray River. Art Galleries and craft shops featuring local paintings and handcrafts are present in Loxton area.
