Lawn Hill National Park

Australia hotels

Lawn Hill National Park, also known as Boodjamulla, is situated within the remote north-west highlands of Queensland. It is one of the state's most scenic parks and features spectacular gorge country, sandstone ranges and World Heritage fossils. Activities on offer in the park include canoeing, swimming, fishing, wildlife watching and bushwalking; there are several well-marked walking trails to choose from.

There is a camping ground at Lawn Hill Gorge with toilets and cold showers. There is also a more basic ground at Miyumba, adjacent to the Gregory River, which has only a non-flush toilet. Alternative accommodation and additional camping is available 10km away from Lawn Hill Gorge, at Adels Grove.

Lawn Hill is located 220km south west of Burketown and 340km north west of Mount Isa. The entire route from Burketown and almost half of the Mt Isa route is unsealed and can be tough going, so these are therefore really only suitable for 4WD. The only feasible route for conventional vehicles is to go through Gregory Downs via Cloncurry (approximately 7 hours away). The last 100km is on a dirt track.
