Kinchega is located in the far west of NSW and covers an area of 443 square kilometres. The park is noted for its Aboriginal artifacts, left behind by the Paakantji people, and an abundance of native wildlife due to the range of different land systems. When the lakes fill up, flocks of birds arrive and the rich plant life flourishes.
Lake Cawndilla camping ground, located on Lake Drive, is based on the water's shore and it has non-flush toilets and BBQ facilities. Alternatively, Shearer's Quarters offers basic accommodation for up to 24 people. Rooms are equipped with two bunk beds and you need to take your own linen and pillows. Hot showers, toilets, a communal kitchen, dining area and gas barbecue are all available.
Kinchega is located 111 km south-east of Broken Hill along the road to Menindee. The park's roads are unpaved, and are closed when wet.
