Glass House Mountains National Park

Australia hotels

Glass House Mountains National Park is located 70km north east of Brisbane and 20km north of Caboolture. The scenery is a flat plain, punctuated by the cores of extinct volcanoes which erupted some 27 million years ago. The area is popular with both walkers and rock climbers. Walking tracks range from easy to very challenging - many lead to peaks and lookouts offering panoramic views. The area is home to numerous koalas, goannas, echidnas and grey kangaroos.

There is a camping ground (permit required) and picnic area at Coochin Creek. This is an ideal spot for visitors who enjoy fishing and boating; a boat ramp is located 1km from the camping area. There are also private camping areas on the Glass House Mountains Road.

To reach the park from Brisbane, follow the Bruce Highway north, take the Glass House Mountains tourist drive turnoff and simply follow the signs to the Glass House Mountains.
