Captain Cook spied North Brother Mountain in 1770 in an area now known as Dooragan National Park. It's about 30 minutes from Port Macquarie on the north coast.
You can walk, cycle and drive in the park which has a long Aboriginal history and is today designated as an Aboriginal Place under New South Wales law.
There are rain forests and eucalyptus forests and a wide array of native flora and fauna including gliders, bats and koalas. From the three mountains there are spectacular views along the coast. With wheelchair access it's an ideal park for families.
