The town of Deloraine, Tasmania, with a population of 2100, is located in the northern central part of the island, about 50 km. west of Launceston, on the Meander River. It is accessible from the Bass Highway. Deloraine is host to a large annual craft fair, held at the end of October.
41 Degrees South Salmon and Ginseng Farm
Located at 323 Montana Road in Deloraine, Tasmania, is the 41 Degrees Farm, where tourists can take self-guided tours, feed the fish, learn about wetlands, and see wildlife, including the platypus.
Bonney Inn
The Bonney Inn, located at 17 West Parade in Deloraine was constructed of bricks made by convicts back in 1831. It features cedar mantle pieces and other fine woodworking.
Alveston
Alveston was the original town before people began to settle on the north side of the river. It is now a neighborhood south of the Meander River that features almost all historic buildings. Look for a charming row of timber and brick Georgian shops.
