Coonabararabran

The place to see the night sky with often very clear skies, and the gateway to the Warrumbungle National Park with it's forests and deep gorges. Coonabararabran is located near the Warrumbungle Mountains and approximate distance from Sydney to Coonabararabran would be 465 km to the North West. Crystal Kingdom
Crystal Kingdom located on the Newell highway has exhibits of minerals from Warrumbungle Range.

Australian Museum Diprotodon
Near to the information centre there is an Australian Museum Diprotodon display which has local prehistoric remains, of which the massive diprotodon skeleton is one among them.

Observatory
2 km to the north west of Coonabararabran sky watch night and day observatory is present which has interactive display, night sky viewing and planetarium. Telescopes and an 18 hole Astro mini golf with specific space themes is present on the site.

Warrumbungle National park
Warrumbungle National park is located 35 km to the west of Coonabararabran has volcanic plug “The Breadknife” (90 km high rock wall). Pilliga scrub, a 450 000 ha forest of white cypress and iron bark, with plains of dense heath and scrub is present in the national park.
