Coles Bay

Coles Bay, with a population of 470, is located on the inside edge of Oyster Bay on the eastern shore of Tasmania.  The people of the town care about the environment, and Coles Bay has the distinction of being the first plastic-bag-free town in Australia. 

The area is known for it's stunning natural beauty, with views of the pink granite mountains called the Hazards along with miles of white sandy beaches.

Freycinet National Park
Coles Bay forms the entrance to Freycinet National Park, which is located on the Freycinet Peninsula.  One of the beaches there, Wineglass Bay, has been rated as one of the ten best beaches in the world. 

Some outstanding views can be seen from the Cape Tourville lighthouse located there, and its adjacent trail.  There are campsites available in the Park.
