The City Centre Markets is a local variety market selling fresh locally grown farm fresh fruit and vegetables, locally produced leather goods, woodwork and jewellery, fresh flowers, delicious homemade cakes, preserves, relishes and sweets as well as locally designed and produced artworks.
Due to its central location in Victoria St Mackay it also draws shoppers into the CBD on a Sunday and the markets spill out into the general shopping precinct which boasts great alfresco cafes, retail stores and Sunday shopping.
The entertainment at the markets is a key drawcard, especially for the kids who are kept well entertained with supersize chess board games, amusement rides, face painting, jumping castles, and the occasional magician who pops in from time to time.
Local musicians keep the vibe going throughout the morning, with their mix of sounds including jazz and blues and lively folk tunes.
There are shaded areas in which to sit down and just watch the world go by while sipping on cool, freshly squeezed juice or indulging in a treat from the cake stall!
