Charles Darwin National Park

Australia hotels

You can travel vast distances to see places in the NT or, if you're in the capital Darwin, you can literally walk to the Charles Darwin National Park.

Mind you it's about 5 kilometres out of town but compared with other parks in the Territory, it's practically next door. There are dozens of mangrove species in this park and woodlands too. There is no camping and day visits only are allowed. Guides may be available to show you the park.

The indigenous history goes back thousands of years in this area but more recently the remains of sunken ships from WW2 can be seen in the waters beside the park. Plenty of walking tracks and picnic areas. A great short trip from Darwin.
