They say you haven't walked upon a white beach until you've done so one of the islands in the Capricornia Cays National Park. The park consists of several islands as part of the Great Barrier Reef with the closest mainland cities being Gladstone and Bundaberg. Access is only by boat.
Snorkelling and scuba diving is brilliant and there are walking tracks on some of the islands with return journeys along those white beaches. The coral islands are known as cays and they lie low in the water. A variety of turtles live here. Camping is permitted and for a stay with a difference, consider sleeping on a coral island.
