Cape Range National Park

Australia hotels

Cape Range is in northern Western Australia, about 40 km from Exmouth via Yardie Creek Rd. The park is 510 km² and takes up much of the western side of the North West Cape peninsula.

There are walking trails, breathtaking lookout points, large interpretive information Visitor Center at Milyering, camping, public bathrooms, and picnic facilities available. Gas barbecues only are allowed in the park, and no campfires due to the threat of fire. There are boat tours available for some of the closest views of the wildlife and indigenous plants.

Wildlife is abundant in the park.  A large variety of birds, emus, and red kangaroos are commonly sighted.  Directly off the coast of the park is the Ningaloo Reef and the park itself is spectacular; with limestone ranges, secluded beaches, and deep canyons, it is truly a sight to behold.  There are species of animals and plants that are native only to this area, as it was once an island. Over 630 species of flowering plants have been recorded here, even though it’s a dry limestone peninsula and a beautiful variety of wildflowers are seen in late winter.  More than 700 caves in the area are havens for the wildlife, especially cave-dwellers like wallabies.
