Arkaroola

Arkaroola is a remote settlement in the northern Flinders Ranges. Arkaroola is located 600 km to the north of Adelaide. It is a set on Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary which is privately owned and it is of 61000 ha. Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary is a haven for birdlife and rare marsupials.

Attractions in town
Astronomical observatory can be accessed by tour only. Guided Bush tucker has bush medicine and Dreamtime walking tour which is organized by tours operators.

Attractions in area
Gammon ranges national park has ruins of Cornish style Bolla Bollana Smelters which were established in the year 1861. Scenic waterholes of Bolla Bollana and Nooldoonoldoona are located 12 km to the North West of Arkaroola.

Weetootla Gorge is located 31 km to the South West of Arkaroola has permanent springs. Italowie Gorge is located 42 km to the South West and access is through 4wd only. Big Moro Gorge is located 59 km to the south of Arkaroola for which Aboriginal land permit is required for entry. Mt Chambers Gorge is located 98 km to the south of Arkaroola which has Aboriginal rock carvings.
