Ararat

The city of Ararat is in south west Victoria and is 205km west from Melbourne. Ararat is a beautiful town that has retained a historical feel to it with the Town Hall and Shire Hall dating back to the 1800s. These are both found in Barkly Street.

Gum San Chinese Heritage Center recognizes the Chinese who have passed through the town at various stages in the past.

J Ward Museum was the original Ararat County Gaol and then an institution for the criminally insane.

Alexandra Botanical Gardens features a conservatory, large lake and some beautiful garden beds.

One Tree Hill Lookout gives visitors panoramic views over Ararat and the surrounding mountain ranges.

Moyston to the west of Ararat has several well established wineries.

Mount Buangor State Park has a waterfall that cascades from the area's highest peak and eucalyptus forests.

Langhi Ghiran State Park is to the east of Ararat and has granite formations.
